24/25 Gameweek 1

The Premier League has returned, and thus, so has FPL. Which means I’m back to writing a couple of blogs every week to summarise our leagues. Huge thanks, firstly, to every one of our participants for this season, an increase in number and, with a year at least under the belt for most, an uptick in performance and competitiveness for all.

Wise Old David has absolutely smashed it in week 1 with 82 points despite having Mo Salah and not captaining him, no Haaland and a few non playing bench sitters could cause issues down the road but a great start none the less. A new entrant Will joined Ploppy Mark in second place on 74 points, well above average again, a few non playing benchers again for Mark, but Will has been bold and got both the big budget bangers Salah (Captain) and Haaland, it will be interesting to see how the different squad builds deliver over the season, and if it will become necessary to follow a template again (YAWN). Let’s hope not.

On the whole, it was a decent start for a good number of our teams with the top 13 all beating the average score. Not too shabby.

The player prices have started moving and players are getting knocks or coming back to fitness so I’m sure squads will start to evolve. Who’s going to play their Wildcard first? Any other chips getting played early? Next update out next week.

Thanks for reading.
