Will’s Joe Wobbler FC has returned to the summit after a week away but there’s just a single point between him and Nathan’s Turkish De Ligt. There’s an 18 point gap to third but 7 points cover the next seven places as it gets close at the top end of the table. Top score of the week went to Joel with 84 points, he had joint top player of the week Luis Diaz who continues to deliver for Liverpool at this early stage of the season. A goal for Ezri Konsa in defence and points for midfield bargains Emile Smith-Rowe and Morgan Rogers helped, along with a goal and bonus points for Erling Haaland and an assist for his captain Mo Salah. Eight teams scored in the 70s but Chris’s FC Grump came in second on the week with 78. He captained Haaland and had the other joint top scoring player Nicolas Jackson and good points from Trent Alexander-Arnold, Smith-Rowe and Bryan Mbuemo. Our third highest scorer was Kev, he also captained Haaland, had Mbuemo, Luis Diaz, Konsa, Watkins and Smith-Rowe.
Nineteen managers beat or matched the gameweek average and 3 Wildcards were played including two of our top three scorers of the week and a further 3 teams took points hits to make their desired transfers.
The EFL Cup returns midweek with games against lower league opposition for Chelsea, Man City, Leicester, Aston Villa and Arsenal, while Liverpool face West Ham in an all Premier League clash. As far as European fixtures are concerned, Man Utd and Spurs both have home fixtures in the Europa League.
