Once again, we have a new leader in the form of Lou on 460 points. She captained last week’s top scorer Cole Palmer who managed to get an assist and a bonus point but it was Maddison, Mbeumo, and Welbeck amongst the goals and a clean sheet for Nick Pope that brought her a decent 55 points. Nathan slipped back to second place on 455 as neither Salah or Haaland delivered. Neil is up to third after a nice 69 pointer, being one of three managers that captained Bukayo Saka but it wasn’t enough to be top scorer, that honour was shared between Chipper’s Honeytown Hat Tricks and David’s WiseOldElf with 77 points, the other two managers to captain Saka. David’s score was boosted by the Mersyside defensive trio of Allison and Van Dijk from Liverpool and Michael Keane of Everton. Up front it was Havertz and Solanke that bought home some points. Chipper also had a Liverpool defensive duo scoring, Konate and Van Dijk, Mbeumo netted from Midfield while Chris Wood and Danny Welbeck scored up front. It could have been even better as Jordan Pickford was sitting on the bench with a 15 point haul. Our third best score of the week went to Angelo’s bumblebee on 70, it was Palmer for captain here alongside points for Saka, Mbeumo, Havertz, Welbeck and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
No chips were played this week, however there were five managers willing to take a points hit to make their transfers, Kev really went for it and took a 20 point hit to make seven changes, including putting Madueke in, and then out again. D’OH! Only twelve of our managers beat the average of 46 last week.
It’s an International break now which I’m sure everyone is absolutely thrilled about and there have already been some withdrawals of players due to injury. Allison Becker looked devastated with a hamstring injury and the likes of Kai Havertz, Morgan Gibbs-White, Ezri Konsa, Alejandro Garnacho have all pulled out of their respective national team’s squads already, managers will be keeping their fingers crossed for positive news on the injury front throughout the next fortnight.
