24/25 Gameweek 8

Nathan returns to the top after a good week thanks largely to Mo Salah, who was the expensive asset to have this week as Erling Haaland blanked for the third week in a row. Clean sheets for Pickford in goal and Aina for Forest on Monday night along with returns further forward for Dwight McNeil, Morgan Rogers and Nicolas Jackson. Lou and Neil hold on to second and third after slightly above average scores of 38 each. The outlying top scorer of the week was Angelo’s team bumblebee. His 71 points was 14 points clear of his closest rival and those points came from captain Salah, Gvardiol scored a beauty, Joel Veltman kept a clean sheet with Brighton, and Danny Welbeck and Chris Wood delivered up front. Mark’s Ploppy FC got 57 points thanks to captain Salah, Jackson and Ollie Watkins both scored and there was a penalty save in goal for Emi Martinez. David’s WiseOldElf was a single point behind with 56 but he did not have Salah as captain. He had the unexpected scorer Michael Keane for Everton who also kept a clean sheet, Salah, McNeil and Watkins all chipped in, his captain Solanke did not.

No chips played again this week and only two managers took a 4 point hit to make extra transfers. 21 of our managers managed to beat or meet the low average of 36 points, so hopefully some ranks gained in the overall league for quite a few.

With a few key assets missing this week, eyes will be on those teams with midweek fixtures to pick up on any news, positive or otherwise, for the next FPL fixtures. Arsenal, Man City and Aston Villa all have home games in the Champion’s League while Liverpool travel to Germany. Man Utd have a tricky looking game away to Fenerbahce and former manager Jose Mourinho, while Spurs stay home in the Europa League and Chelsea travel to Greece in the Conference League. The Premier League returns on Friday night with Leicester and Steve Cooper hosting Nottingham Forest. They couldn’t, could they?
