Nathan holds on to first place with returns from Mo Salah, Nicolas Jackson, Josko Gvardiol and top scorer of the week, Bryan Mbeumo. He also had Haaland as captain with a slightly underwhelming return of 12 points against the previously leaky Southampton defence. Lou maintained second place with a decent haul from Cole Palmer and Danny Wellbeck alongside Mbeumo and captain Haaland. Luciano made a big jump up to third from eighth thanks to a clean sheet from Dean Henderson in goal, Gvardiol, while all his front seven returned with points from Luis Diaz, Emile Smith-Rowe, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, Liam Delap, Erling Haaland and Chris Wood, and yet he was not the top scorer in our league last week. That honour went to Angelo who captained Mo Salah and also had Mbeumo, Saka, Palmer, Gvardiol and Wood. Luciano did have the second highest score and in third was Chris’ FC Grump, he had Wood, Jackson, Palmer, Mbeumo, captain Haaland and also Lucas Digne and Rico Lewis at the back.
There was one chip played an it was the Triple Captain chip played by Adam on Haaland. Disappointing. Three managers took a hit to make changes, two -4s for Fraser and Tim and a -8 for Kev. Twenty one managers met or beat the average for the week.
More midweek fixtures this week with the return of the EFL Cup. Tuesday night sees Southampton and Brentford hosting lower league opposition while Wednesday has five all premier league fixtures, Brighton v Liverpool, Aston Villa v Crystal Palace, Man Utd v Leicester City, Newcastle Utd v Chelsea and Spurs v Man City. Arsenal are also playing away to a lower league team.
Oh, and Leicester City and Steve Cooper didn’t by the way.
