With many of the traditional big hitters failing to return, the average score was only 46 points which makes David’s 80 point haul to extend his lead at the top look even more impressive. David played his Bench Boost and made a great move by playing Chris Wood as captain as he scored and assisted, the triple up on Crystal Palace paid dividends as Dean Henderson and Daniel Munoz both kept clean sheets and Jean-Phillipe Mateta scored twice, Lewis Hall grabbed an assist and Virgil Van Dijk also kept a clean sheet to round off the scoring. Second placed Luciano could only manage 56 points, he also had Henderson, Hall, Munoz and Wood but chose to captain Alexander Isak who failed to deliver for the first time in nine games, fortunately for Luciano he also had Antonee Robinson and Bruno Fernandes that chipped in with some decent points. Luis sits third still also having Wood and Robinson, he captained Cole Palmer as he blanked but got nice hauls from Trent Alexander-Arnold and Ola Aina.
Along with David’s Bench Boost, Lou also played the same chip for 61 points. Two managers chose to play their second Wildcard chips, Matt and Nathan both scored 45 points in their first week with new squads and will probably be slightly disappointed to have left points on the bench.
Midweek brings European fixtures for those involved, Aston Villa are off to the south of France to play AS Monaco while Liverpool entertain Lille on Tuesday. Wednesday sees Arsenal at home to Dinamo Zagreb and Man City also off to France to play Paris St Germain. Thursday has Man Utd at home to Rangers and Spurs away to Hoffenheim. In addition to European fixtures, the transfer window is still open and has seen several new players enter the game that could make in impact in the second half of the season while some current players could be moving on to pastures new.
