Our league has been trimmed to (currently) 22 players this season and Fraser and Neil have both kicked things off with a nice 72 point haul for week 1. Interestingly they have both opted for Erling Haaland over Mo Salah and both captained the Norwegian. While they scored the same the make up of their squads is quite different, Fraser has opted for strength in defence through William Saliba, Marc Cucurella and Milos Kerekez while Neil has put more budget into Attack with Ollie Watkins and Hugo Ekitike. Rounding out the top three was Pilch Read on 63. Pilch also opted for Haaland and left out Mo Salah so it will be interesting to see if the top three can continue getting away with it going forward.
Nobody played a chip for this week, plenty of time to get those extra chips played.
Some work to do for some of our managers as the average score was 54 and fourteen of our players failed to beat that mark. Another Friday night fixture kicks off week 2 with an early deadline of 18:30 BST following Crystal Palace’s European opener on Thursday night, something to be wary of for those with itchy trigger fingers. Price changes have started already so, who will be the first manager to hit the Wildcard or take points hits to make changes, we’ll see soon.
